Affordable evening classes prepare Northern Nevada residents for careers in advanced manufacturing, logistics and industrial operations

FERNLEY, Nev. (September 22, 2026) — Western Nevada College (WNC) is now enrolling students for hands-on workforce training courses at the Workforce Training Hub at Victory Logistics District, providing residents with affordable opportunities to develop in-demand technical skills for careers in Northern Nevada’s growing manufacturing and industrial sectors.

The evening courses, held in Fernley at Victory Logistics District, are part of WNC’s ongoing partnership with Victory to expand access to workforce education while supporting the region’s growing demand for skilled talent.

Registration is open for ELM 134: Programmable Logic Controllers I, running October 19 through December 12. The course follows ELM 110: Basic Electricity, which began in August. Both classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m. at the Workforce Training Hub at Victory Logistics District, located at 1740 N. Nevada Pacific Parkway, Suite 100, in Fernley. With support from state and federal grant funding, the anticipated cost to students is less than $50 per course.

Designed for students, career changers and working professionals alike, the courses provide practical, hands-on instruction aligned with the needs of today’s advanced manufacturing, logistics and industrial employers. ELM 110 introduces foundational electrical concepts, including AC/DC circuit principles, electrical components, circuit construction and analysis, proper use of testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies. ELM 134 introduces programmable logic controllers, giving students experience with digital logic, mechatronic systems, PLC programming and troubleshooting.

“Western Nevada College is excited to partner with Victory Logistics District and Mark IV Capital to bring accessible, hands-on education directly to Fernley and surrounding communities,” said J. Kyle Dalpe, WNC President. “These courses strengthen the connection between education and industry, build the skilled workforce pipeline that supports Northern Nevada’s economic growth, and help learners at every age and stage of life prepare for success in a rapidly changing job market.”

This partnership is one part of Victory’s Workforce Center of Excellence initiative, connecting education, workforce development and industry to help prepare local talent for high-demand careers.

According to a labor market study commissioned by Victory Logistics District, manufacturing and transportation remain two of Fernley’s largest employment sectors, with 14% of the workforce employed in manufacturing and 12.2% working in transportation and warehousing.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to building a strong, sustainable workforce in Northern Nevada,” said Rick Nelson, Senior Vice President at Victory Logistics District. “By welcoming Western Nevada College into Victory, we are creating direct connections between education and industry that will benefit both employers and the community for years to come.”
